Company History
1990Justin Evilsizor, John Sallman, Andy White, and Ian Grigsby begin making movies using an old Betamax Camcorder. The movies are filmed chronologically and shot with one take each, with no post-production or editing of any kind. All special effects are incorporated "live". Justin quickly assumes the role of director, and continues to produce a number of these short movies over the next several years.1993Robbie Jenkins-Hayes and Justin Evilsizor begin to create a series of short stories and novellas. When the first set of stories are finished, they call it "cranial vomit", symbolizing the stream-of-conscious method they used to drive their creativity. Some of the works are later published in "The Guilded Monuments".1995The teens from Rocky Bayou Baptist Church get together and film three movies during the summer. Techno Robots from Space is the most successful, and is shown repeatedly throughout the church congregation. Created over a course of several days and using a cast of over two-dozen, it is the first movie Justin was involved with that featured props built specifically for the movie. Entire sets were created to achieve the deliberately 'cheesy' setups that satire early 60's sci-fi productions such as "Buck Rogers" and "Lost in Space". The films, however, were shot in single takes and are made chronologically, with no post-production or editing.1997Justin Evilsizor, having parted ways with Robbie Jenkins-Hayes through mutual consent, utilized equipment borrowed from the Lakota School District to edit his first movie scene that was storyboarded prior to filming, and was shot out of order and assembled post-production. He calls his scene a "cranial vomit production" and it is a successful technical exercise in proper filmmaking techniques. He subsequently created several more short movies, each more technical than the previous. His final short, "Omega Crisis", was an instant hit with family members, academic peers, and his first critic, Ralph Draper - the head of the Audio/Visual Department for Lakota West High School. Justin would thereafter acquire his first camcorder, allowing him to pursue his creative passion at his own pace.1998Justin creates his first documentary. Made for a government project at his high school, this was the first non-fiction production for Justin, and he collaborated with Graham Weber from the theater department at Lakota West. With Graham's contacts at city hall, they are able to interview department personnel and receive the highest marks of the class for their video documentary.Having now acquired a few skills in proper filmmaking, Justin Evilsizor saw an opportunity to create a documentary about a Campus Crusade for Christ Summer Retreat for high school students that took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He took his camera, a stock of tapes, and proceeded to film a majority of the events. After the camp was over, he used a series of vhs decks and a four-input audio crossover instrument to assemble the footage into an 80 minute documentary. The credits are created using an AVID system through a contact from Ralph Draper. The Myrtle Beach documentary is produced by "Cranial Vomit Industries" and sales to students from the retreat exceed Justin's expectations. Fresh off the success of the Myrtle Beach Getaway documentary, Cranial Vomit Industries acquires a digital editing station for a Pentium II-450mhz PC. Soon after, Cranial Vomit Industries adopts the alternate name, CV Industries, and begins to promote itself to various non-profit organizations. 1999After a series of videos and documentaries to satisfactorily complete college courses in Urban Planning, CV Industries upgrades its video recorder to the digital 8 medium, allowing for the capture of footage with over 500 lines of resolution.During this time, Burnham Ministries International hires CV Industries to edit footage of a pastor-training conference in the Ukraine. The completed project receives accolades and debuts before a crowd of 3,000 through BMI and Hope Church. BMI's contacts through Hope Church would later utilize CV Industries for additional videos including a 10th Anniversary Celebration, an video overview of various departments, and a closer look at the International Student Ministry joint effort through Old Saint George Parish near the University of Cincinnati. 2000CV Industries upgrades its software to Pinnacle Systems Studio DV.
